Dr. Donovan Forbes of Falmouth, Trelawny Jamaica
Dr. Donovan Forbes is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and development financial consultant who honed his skills in New York’s financial district, home to the world’s busiest stock market, who acquired a breathtaking 62-acre property in Wakefield Township, in Trelawny Perrish now called Reggae Park 420 Escape.
His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II (Ga Mantse), Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II (Oguaa Omanhen), Nana Amoah Sakyi II and the Executives of Peace Tower of Africa recently confirmed Dr. Forbes is to be celebrated at the African Living Legend Festival and present an award in person in October 2024 in Columbus OH, USA.
As stated in the congratulatory letter received by Dr. Forbes as the reasons for his being honored with The African Living Legend Hero’s Award,
“Your dedication and hard work have made a difference on our society, and it is the major reason for this Honour; Because of you, many now have purposes in life and that is a great achievement we all can reach.”
Formerly a sugar cane plantation, surrounded by miles of emerald tributary of the Martha Brae River, Reggae Park 420 Escape is being developed as a destination where visitors will experience the cultural, historical, artistic, and musical gifts that Jamaica has to offer.
In addition, Reggae Park 420 Escape will be hosting the Reggae Jam International Festival in June 2024, expected to attract tens of thousands to the park, bringing with it a greatly welcomed boost to the local economy.
Dr. Forbes has stated his mission behind his development of Reggae Park, and the opportunity it presents to the local community.
“the objective was not only to build a stand-alone music and cultural facility, but also to help redevelop the surrounding communities which met their demise with the death of the sugar plantations and factories on which they had historically depended to eke out an existence, and Reggae Park intends to empower community members by helping them to develop their skill levels and business potential to provide adjunct services to the Reggae Park from which they can make a sustainable living and improve their quality of life.”

Knowing Dr. Forbes personally, I can attest to his warm heart, his kind demeanor, and especially his passion to help others discover the value they bring to the world, and his inspiration to live into what is possible.
I can’t think of a more deserving person to receive this highly respected and coveted award.
